Oscar nominations are right around the corner, and you know what that means: It’s time to frantically catch up on all of the buzzed-about award hopefuls that you missed in theaters this year. By the way, it’s not entirely your fault — some of these films were barely even in theaters. (I’m looking at you, Juror #2.)

While it’s true that every December ushers in some level of uncertainty about the state of the Oscar race, most would agree that 2025’s major categories feel even more wide open than usual.
